HUNU FILMS BEGINS PRODUCTION ON

ARES 11!!

HUNU FILMS is excited to announce the filming of our newest project ARES 11!  ARES 11 is written and directed by Robert Goodrich, who also worked with us on a Hitchcockian short thriller called THE ATTACHMENT a few years ago (look for this on the extra features of Lost Everything on DVD).  We are thrilled to have such a talented writer/director at the helm of this ship (no pun intended).

ARES 11 is a futuristic Sci-fi Thriller in space.  The sneak preview story of

ARES 11 is:

Four crewmembers of a military spacecraft are on a routine surveillance mission inside the asteroid belt.

HUNTER (David Hyland), the pilot of the craft, and NOVA (Patricia Storch), the ship’s navigator, occupy the tight quarters of the upper flight deck.   Working in equally cramped conditions in the compartment directly below theirs is OTTO (Jack James), the flight specialist, and TESSA (Havre De Hill), the ship’s mission specialist.  The crew is near the end of its tour, but months of being confined aboard their tiny ship, the Ares 11, is beginning to take its toll.  Morale is low, and tensions are high.

When LT. GENERAL NORBERT TRYBULL (Eric Bell) transmits orders for the crew to scan the asteroid Vesta as a suspected location for a hidden enemy base, Otto is quick to dismiss it as one of a long line of pointless searches he has grown to expect from command. “It’s a milk-run”, he says.

Little does he know how wrong he is.

As the Ares 11 spacecraft is finishing its orbit of the asteroid, their instruments detect a missile fired at them from the surface.  With engines blasting, the ship tries desperately to evade the rapidly approaching missile.  But they can’t escape.   The ship is rocked by a massive explosion.

Although safely out of range of any further attacks, the crew frantically fights to repair the damage to their ship.   The missile pierced the crew compartment, and it is quickly loosing pressure.   After several tense moments, the crew patches the leak, and the ship is once again stable.   They have every reason to believe the worst is behind them.

But after doing a complete systems check of their craft they learn the unfathomable truth:  Half of the tanks that supply oxygen to the crew have been damaged beyond repair, leaving only enough air for two crew members to return to base alive.

As the crew attempts to digest the terrible news, and decide on a plan of action, the individual personalities of the four crewmembers begin to strongly influence the course of events.   Hunter’s stern devotion to military protocol quickly rubs the other members of the crew the wrong way.    Nova’s attempts to calm tensions and act as a mediator prove no match for the rising emotional pressure aboard the ship.  Tessa retreats into complete denial, and refuses to make any decisions.   More ominously, Otto’s resentment of his commanding officers in the compartment above him, erupts into full-blown suspicion and paranoia.

After fierce debate, it is decided that two members of the crew will voluntarily end their own lives using a cyanide capsule, allowing the remaining two to survive.   But which two?

This dilemma could easy be the setting for a story of heroism and self-sacrifice.  But that is not what occurs aboard the Ares 11. The will to survive proves too strong an instinct.  As they gather to draw Backgammon checkers from a bag to decide who will live and who will die, Otto produces a loaded weapon that he has been concealing from the others.  A fight erupts, resulting in the death of one of the crewmembers.   Pre-existing alliances are stretched to their breaking point, and horrifying betrayals are committed.   Until the very last frame it is uncertain who, if anyone, will survive.

ARES 11 WILL BE READY TO LAUNCH IN 2012!!!
